As of today, the speculations and leaks about a new affordable model in the Samsung S20 line continue to grow. Previously named “Fan Edition” the leaks all but confirm that Samsung will be sticking with the “Lite” moniker for the cheaper version of their Flagship model - aptly naming it S20 Lite.
Samsung originally released four models in its S20 line (Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra) with the price point reaching upwards of C$1320!
The Galaxy S20 specs include:
- 6.2 Display screen
- Ultra HD resolution of 1440x3200 pixels
- Three rear cameras - 12MP+64MP+12MP
- 8GB or 128GB
- OS - Android 10 & One UI 2
After the S20 line launch at the beginning of the year, the sales were low in comparison to their budget A series. Due to the lower than expected sales, leaks have come forth with information on the Galaxy S20 Lite as a possible cost-effective choice for the S20 line.
The model estimated price point is around $750 US dollars which is significantly cheaper than it’s predecessors. That is great news for those of us that want to save a few bucks but still get the S20 experience.
It is speculated that the Galaxy S20 Lite would hold a very similar design as the Galaxy S20 but with a few differences. Those include, the possibility of a plastic back cover instead of glass and the display to fall between 6.4 and 6.5-inches which is a bit larger than the Galaxy S20.
Furthermore, it’s speculated to have a 120Hz refresh rate and an underneath finger display sensor.
Additional specs include:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 865
- 4500mAh battery
- 6GB or 8GB RAM
- OS Android 10
In regards to the camera specs, it’s rumoured to have three rear cameras - 12MP + 12MP + 8MP and the front camera being 32MP which is a bit lower in comparison to the Galaxy S20 62MP front camera.
Overall, based on what we’ve gathered, the S20 Lite seems to be a promising cheaper alternative from its premium models in its line. With a potential release date to be set in October 2020, would you consider buying it?
